MowMarket is an online marketplace. We connect property owners and customers with independent landscaping and snow-removal contractors. MowMarket generally does not perform landscaping or snow-removal work itself, and we are not a party to the agreement you make with the other side.
Contractors on MowMarket are independent businesses. They are not employees, partners or agents of MowMarket, and we do not supervise or control their work.
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract.
You agree to give accurate information about yourself and your business, and to keep your account details current. You are responsible for anything that happens under your account.
You may not use MowMarket for unlawful, fraudulent, dangerous or prohibited activity. In particular, you may not:
We may suspend or terminate any account for fraud, abuse, safety issues, or violations of these Terms — with or without notice where the situation warrants it.
Bids, fixed prices, schedules, scopes of work, change orders and payment are agreements between the customer and the contractor. Unless a MowMarket payment feature is specifically used for a transaction in the future, MowMarket does not handle payment and is not responsible for collecting, holding or refunding money.
MowMarket does not guarantee that any particular contractor, customer, bid, project, price, schedule, level of quality or outcome will be available or satisfactory.
Contractors must upload proof of general liability insurance. A MowMarket administrator reviews the document, and a contractor cannot submit bids until the required insurance is approved. Approved contractors display a Verified / Insured indication. We track the expiration date on file: when coverage expires, that indication is removed and new bidding is locked until compliant insurance is restored. Browsing may remain available.
Licensing and certification requirements vary by state, service and jurisdiction. There is no single nationwide landscaping license. Where a service or location requires a license or certification — for example fertilization and pesticide/chemical application — MowMarket requires the applicable credential to be uploaded and reviewed before a contractor may bid on that category. Optional credentials may also be uploaded, and a credential is only shown as verified after an administrator has reviewed it.
MowMarket's review confirms that a document was submitted and appears valid on its face and unexpired. It is not a guarantee of coverage, workmanship, safety or outcome, and it is not a background check. MowMarket does not currently provide escrow, payment protection, background checks, guarantees or bonding.
After a job is marked complete, the customer may review the contractor and the contractor may review the customer. Reviews stay hidden until both sides submit or the review window closes, so neither side can respond to the other's rating. Only the two people connected through that awarded, completed job may review each other, and each may review a job once.
Reviews must reflect a genuine experience. We may remove reviews that are fraudulent, retaliatory, harassing or otherwise in violation of these Terms.
Before a project is awarded, contractors see only approximate location information such as city/area and approximate distance. After you award a project, the winning contractor receives the exact address so the work can be performed. See our Privacy Policy.
MowMarket is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MowMarket is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, property damage, personal injury or work performed or not performed by a contractor.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to MowMarket is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid MowMarket in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).
You agree to defend and indemnify MowMarket against claims, damages and costs arising from your use of the marketplace, your work or your project, or your violation of these Terms or the law.
Disputes about work, quality, payment or scheduling are between the customer and the contractor. We ask that you try to resolve them directly and in good faith first. You can report serious problems to us through the Support page; we may review accounts and take action, but we are not an arbitrator and do not decide disputes for you.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any dispute with MowMarket that is not resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in New York.
One Founding Contractor spot is available per base ZIP code. A Founding Contractor pays no monthly MowMarket membership fee and a reduced MowMarket platform fee on completed jobs for as long as Founding status is maintained. Founding status is non-transferable, limited to one spot per contractor or business, and is determined by base ZIP code — it does not limit or expand your service radius.
Founding status is meant for contractors who participate in the marketplace. If eligible jobs are available in your service area and you do not bid for an extended period, we will notify you and give you time to respond before the Founding spot is released. Periods when MowMarket has not yet generated jobs in your area do not count against you.
MowMarket is early and evolving. Features, marketplace rules and fees may change with notice as the platform develops. Homeowner accounts and project posting are free today; a contractor subscription and a platform fee on completed transactions are planned for the future and will not be charged without clear advance notice and your agreement. Continuing to use MowMarket after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
