Privacy Policy

The short version

• We collect what we need to run the marketplace — nothing more.
• We do not sell your personal information.
• Contractors never see your exact street address before you award the project — only your city/area and an approximate distance.
• You can delete your account from Account → Account settings at any time.

Information we collect

• Name and email address.
• Phone number, if you choose to add one.
• Account information and whether you are a customer or a contractor.
• Contractor and company information: company name, contact person, description, service categories, service radius, years of experience, portfolio photos, and any self-reported insurance or licensing details.
• Project details: description, photos, street address, city, state and ZIP code, preferred start date and budget.
• Approximate location derived from a project address, and precise device location for contractors only when you grant location permission (used to estimate distance).
• Bids, awards and project status.
• Messages you send through the app.
• Ratings and reviews, once that feature is available.
• Technical information normally needed to run a web service, such as device/browser details, IP address and error logs.

Why we use it

• Creating and operating your account.
• Matching projects with suitable contractors.
• Calculating approximate distance between a contractor and a job.
• Processing bids, awards and project status.
• Enabling project-specific messaging between the two sides.
• Keeping the marketplace secure and preventing fraud and abuse.
• Fixing problems and improving MowMarket.

Address privacy (important)

Before a project is awarded, contractors receive only approximate location information — city, state, ZIP area and an approximate distance such as "about 6.2 miles away". The exact street address is withheld by our database permissions, not just hidden in the app.

After you award a project, the winning contractor receives the exact project address so the work can be performed. Contractors who were not selected do not receive the exact address at any point.

What other users can see

Your profile details are visible only to people you are actually doing business with — a contractor who bid on your project, a customer whose project you bid on, or someone you are messaging. Phone numbers, email addresses and exact addresses are never published publicly or broadly readable across the marketplace.

Sharing

We share information with service providers that host our app, database, storage and email so the service can operate, and when required by law or to protect the safety of users. We do not sell personal information.

Storage and security

Project photos and portfolio photos are kept in private storage and served through short-lived signed links to authorized users only. Database access rules restrict every record to the people who are entitled to see it.

Your choices and deletion rights

You can update your details at any time in Account. You can delete your account from Account → Account settings → Delete account. Deleting your account permanently removes or anonymizes your personal account information, your projects, bids and messages, except where we must keep limited records for legitimate legal, tax, security or fraud-prevention reasons.

Children

MowMarket is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

We'll update this policy as MowMarket develops and will note the date at the top. See also our Terms of Service.
